I.C.Y.M.I.: Social Media Reacts to MoPOP Founders Award 2020 Lineup Honoring Alice In Chains
Greetings, fellow pop culture aficionados, and welcome to week 41 of our I.C.Y.M.I. (In Case You Missed It) blog series, where we recap a handful of trending tidbits from the past week(s) in popular culture, in case you missed them.
Last week, we shared a sweet moment between rock stars Dave Grohl and 10-year-old Nandi Bushell, who in recent weeks met each other (virtually) for the very first time. This week, the focus is our Founders Award fundraiser, as we share reaction to MoPOP's unveiling of the full lineup for its upcoming online benefit honoring Alice In Chains.
Social Media Reacts to Founders Award 2020 Lineup
The full lineup for MoPOP's Founders Award virtual event honoring Alice In Chains has been released, and on top of the Seattle band headlining the show, fans can expect to see performances from Metallica, Korn, Duff McKagan (Guns n' Roses), Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), Krist Novoselic (Nirvana, Giants in the Trees), members of Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, and much, much more.
Needless to say, the announcement created quite the buzz in the rock world, with outlets like Rolling Stone, Loudwire, and Consequence of Sound helping spread the word, plus the excited artists and bands involved sharing the message on social media.
"It feels truly special to receive the MoPOP Founders Award in our home town of Seattle," tweets Alice In Chains vocalist and guitarist Jerry Cantrell. "It's also humbling to be joined by so many of our friends, peers, and heroes to rock some AIC tunes. I hope you enjoy the show as much as we did putting it together. A big hearty thanks to everyone who participated in making this possible during these strange times. Music has the power to unite, heal, and inspire. It is all of ours. Let's continue to create and celebrate that which feeds the soul."
Founders Award 2020 honoring Alice In Chains streams free online beginning at 6 p.m. PST on Tuesday, December 1 and will be available to watch on MoPOP's Facebook page, Amazon Music's Twitch channel, and the Amazon Music app (get on the list for event updates and exclusive content).
In the tweets below, check out social media reaction highlights from members of Alice In Chains, Metallica, Duff McKagan, and more!
